Hi, my name is Michelle Strong, and although I have been a Stafford resident for over 6 years I am originally from Scotland. While living in Stafford I have had the wonderful opportunity to work in two local shops as a groomer. I then decided to start my own mobile pet grooming business, and so was born Best Friends Mobile Pet Grooming. My goal is to provide a more personalized convenient service to my clients, and a more comfortable, stress free experience for their best friends.
I've been working with dogs since I was a child, my parents got our first chow when I was 6 months old. Both my mum and dad showed, bred and judged their way through the last 37 years, even Crufts. I started showing at the early age of 4, in junior classes, and continued through to my early twenties. I was always a helping hand to my parents from feeding, training and walking to grooming all 8 chows (thats a lot of hair!!). My parents also worked hard with the chow rescue, we always had some sorry looking chow arrive at the house that they would miraculousy make beautiful, so I guess grooming is in my blood.
I am owned by a 5-yr old Portuguese Water dog named Seamus (pronounced Shaymus).
A self professed dog-a-holic, I also worked at a doggy day care facility where I gained great knowledge and experience about different breeds temperment and personalities. I attend a couple of dog training classes a week and am trying to fit in Rally O competitions. I make it a priority to attend grooming seminars and dog shows to keep up with the latest trends in grooming. I am also American Red Cross, Pet first aid/CPR certified.
I enjoy being a member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America, and attend many of their training seminars each year, work allowing. I enjoy mixing with the other groomers who attend as there is always some new piece of equipment or new technique to learn. I also attend pet behaviour seminars the last one being Cesar Millan, as I believe this also helps me in my work.
I am married to Steve, a very understanding husband, who I thank for supporting and believing in me. I feel very fortunate that I am able to spend my day doing a “job” that brings me so much joy.
